ONE DAY ONE STORY- READING PROMOTION WEEK-1

Every September, we celebrate One Day, One Story (ODOS) to mark International Literacy Day. One Day, One Story is a volunteer-driven initiative to spread the joy of reading. Throughout the month, volunteers - our reading champions - conduct joyful storytelling sessions across India and the world. Reading sessions are held in government schools, community centres, libraries, apartment complexes, parks and any other spaces that our reading champions choose.


As our long-time supporter, we are happy to invite you to register for this year’s event.


This year, let’s read: Kaise Bhagayein Bukhaar (Exam Fever) (A level 2 book - for young readers) and Goal! ( A level 4 book - for older readers). Both the books have been written originally in Hindi and then translated into multiple languages.

This is the 13th edition of One Day, One Story (ODOS). This year we also celebrate 20 years of Pratham Books so this ODOS is extra special! The books we have selected this year are Exam Fever (A level 2 book - for younger children) and Goal (A level 4 book - for older children). 

Please fill out this form to register for ODOS and conduct a reading event in your community/organisation. 

You will receive a physical copy of the book/s if you are in India and wish to read from one of the five Indian languages available in print. If you are outside India OR wish to read in a language not available in print, please register here and read from


You can conduct the event/s anytime between September 7th - September 15th. If that is not possible, anytime after that is fine too! The idea is to spread the joy of reading, so any time is a good time!

Adobe Digital Creativity Skills

Online training sessions were conducted for teachers but some of the teachers could not attend it. Please find below the calendar for conducting training sessions on Adobe Digital Creativity skills for teachers and students. Additionally, a few teachers have not successfully submitted their projects. Attached herewith a calendar from 28th Aug to 3 Sep for teachers to join the refresher PD sessions. (Enclosed is the school-wise calendar for all subject teachers).

Mental Health and Well-being of School Students

Ministry of Education

Initiatives taken by the Government for Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing of Students

The following components are included in the ‘Manodarpan’ initiative:

  1. Advisory Guidelines for students, teachers and faculty of School systems and Universities along with families.
  2. Web page on Ministry of Education website (URL: http://manodarpan.education.gov.in ) carrying advisory, practical tips, posters, videos, do’s and don’ts for psychosocial support, FAQs and online query system.
  3. National level database and directory of counsellors at School and University levels.
  4. National Toll-free Helpline (8448440632) for a country wide outreach to students from school, universities and colleges.
  5. Handbook on Psychosocial Support: Enriching Life skills and Wellbeing of Students
  6. Webinars, audio-visual resources including videos, posters, flyers, comics, and short films with focus on convergence of resources from other Ministries/Departments on physical and creative well-being which are essential parts of mental well-being.


The National Council of Educational Research and Training has started ‘NCERT Counseling Services for School Children’ in April, 2020 to help school students across the country share their concerns.  This service is provided free of charge by about 270 counsellors across different regions of the country.   Live interactive sessions on ‘SAHYOG: Guidance for Mental Wellbeing of Children’ are telecast on 12 PM eVidya DTH-TV channels for classes 1 to 12.  To handle stress and anxiety recorded videos on Yoga are telecast through 12 DTH TV channels with effect from 1st September, 2020 from Classes 1 to 12 and also digital resources are made available in digital platforms, i.e., DIKSHA.

Under the aegis of the School Health Programme under Ayushman Bharat, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has developed a comprehensive package titled “Training and Resource Material: Health and Wellness of School-going Children. A specific module has been included on “Emotional Well-being and Mental Health”, which has activities related to the mental health and well-being of students and teachers.

 ACTIVITIES FOR AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER

PM SHRI LIBRARY GRANT 24-25

                                            

                       




Common Guidelines: Implementation Guidelines for PM SHRI Phase - I - 2024-25

              ● As the PM SHRI Scheme is the prestigious scheme of Govt of India to implement the NEP-2020. The schools under the scheme will be the exemplar schools in the local community, which will showcase the NEP.

              ● These schools will have state of the art infrastructure. The students will be equipped with 21st century skills. 

               ● All efforts should be made for the effective utilization of resources procured using PM SHRI funds for the benefit of students.

              ● This scheme desires the Vidyalayas to focus on value education and the preparation of future citizens.

 ● Creation of Committee: Establish a core committee with the following members 

  • Principal (overall Incharge), 
  • VP/Senior Most PGT, 
  • HM, 
  • Teachers (VMC Representative), 
  • PM SHRI I/C Teacher,
  • office (Senior most) and 
  • one concerned Department I/C and to oversee the overall project or fund utilization. 

Timeliness: Utilize funds efficiently within the allocated time frame of the project or program. Track progress and adjust spending plans if necessary to ensure timely completion. 

● Prioritize initiatives that demonstrably improve student learning, well-being, or the overall school environment. Evaluate options based on their potential impact rather than simply spending the allocated funds. 

● The exact amount of funds allocated for a particular activity is based on the number of classrooms, sections, students, or teachers. Please refer to the fund allocation sheet provided by the concerned Regional Office through the Head Quarter. 

The procurement process shall adhere to the following steps: 

  1. Detailed requisitions with quantity, justification of requisite item with specification and signature of the sub-committee constituted for the purpose. 
  2. Purchase orders shall be issued as per requisitions, duly signed by the competent authority. 
  3. Physical verification of stocks by the stockholder and purchase committee and certificate thereof. 
  4. Bill should be properly verified and signed by the Principal after entry in the stock register and initial of stock I/c. o Accurate stock entry in the designated stock register (consumable /Non-Consumable) .
  5.  Prompt ledger entry, cash book recording and, signed by the Principal. 
  6. Monthly reconciliation of the cash book, countersigned by the Principal. 

No Clubbing up with VVN/SF: This is a completely separate scheme from VVN/SF. Hence, expenses should not be clubbed with VVN/SF. 

A purchase being made under PM SHRI must be explicitly from the allotted fund under PM SHRI scheme. 

● Procurement: should be strictly as per GFR-2017. Any violation or negligence shall be viewed seriously and addressed accordingly. 

● The recurring and non-recurring heads should not be mixed.

 ● Each non-consumable asset under PM SHRI should be assigned a unique number in the following format:

  • KVS/PM SHRI/2024-25/1/8,  
  •  KVS/PM SHRI/2024-25/2/8, and so on. 

  • Immediately after taking into stock, numbering should be done using paint on the hidden or back surface of the asset

● The head–wise ceiling fixed under a particular head for the school, should not be crossed. 

Proper Record: Maintain separate detailed records for both consumable and non-consumable items purchased with the funds. Maintain only two separate stock register for each purchase under PM SHRI  

  1. Consumable  
  2.  Non-Consumable 

Proper documentation and showcasing: Maintain proper documentation for all activities, before and after photographs/videos, which will showcase the positive changes achieved as per desired outcome. 

Recording feedback: Record feedback from students, staff, VMC, Local Community on the visible impact of the activities. Record the feedback in form of HD photos/HD videos (1-2minutes)/write up(maximum one page).  

PM SHRI Logo: Affix PM SHRI logo in the backdrop of all events. 

Every School will prepare its Quarterly Newsletter and Magazine. The school will send the newsletter and compiled Magazine by 5 th day after the end of each quarter. The regional office will send the school-wise and its (RO’s) compiled magazine to KV HQ by the 10th day ending of each quarter.

Learning Enhancement Programme (LEP) / Remedial Teaching -4

Implementation Guidelines for PM SHRI Phase - I - 2024-25 

OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of Learning Enhancement Programme /remedial teaching is to identify learning gaps and the specific areas where a student is having difficulty. This includes identifying the basic concepts which are not understood fully and need to be revised.

  • PROGRAMMATIC NORMS
  • ● Provide Printed material (subject wise worksheets containing Minimum Level Learning material) to all identified students who need remedial teaching. ( Approx 50-60 pages)
  •  Academic enrichment in classrooms is aimed at engaging students beyond classrooms through various interventions, such as, group research, group work, portfolios, presentations by students, debates, quizzes, library books, extra reading, project- work, etc.
  • Individualized learning interventions to be undertaken for children with special needs, and identified slow learners, especially with the help of special educators, therapists, peer learning, parental/volunteer involvement, etc. 
  • ● Every school must showcase its impact on students & feedback of parents with good quality photos & short videos through social media platforms & upload on school websites. ● The above-mentioned activities are only suggestive in nature, schools can design/ plan activities based on context or specific needs.

FINANCIAL NORMS: ● ₹ 50,000/ (0.5 lac) per Vidyalaya.

OBJECTIVES: Libraries empower minds by offering knowledge, resources, and a quiet space to learn and grow. Hence Library furniture must also be a triple threat: functional (comfy seating for reading, study carrels, flexible tables), durable (built to last long and withstand frequent use), and inviting (colourful, varied seating options, appealing design to create a welcoming atmosphere for all students). 

PROGRAMMATIC NORMS: 

● Furniture for the library to be purchased on the following priority set. A higher priority item to be purchased only if the lower priority item is already available in the vidyalaya. 

  • Priority 1 : Furniture for desktop computer procurement under PM SHRI fund 
  • ● Priority 2 : Chairs for the students 
  • ● Priority 3 : Library Tables (do not buy very long tables, which may be difficult to move and clean.) 
  • ● Priority 4 : Library Racks for storage of books.
