LIBRARY RULES:

  1. All students of the school are members of the library
  2. A student can borrow only one book at a time for a period of two weeks.
  3. Books will be issued to the students, during the library periods. No book will be issued or returned during the teaching hours.
  4. Marking, underlining or writing on library books is strictly forbidden.
  5. Reference books and current periodicals will not be issued to any student. These can be read only in the library room.
  6. If the books are not returned within a specified time it will be viewed seriously and fine will be charged as per rules.
  7. The librarian may call for a book at any time, even if the normal period of loan has not expired.
  8. In case of book is misused, wrongly handled or lost the person concerned will have to replace the book or pay the full price of the book.
  9. A ‘No Dues Certificate’ by each student is to be obtained from the librarian while withdrawing any student from the school.
  10. Strict order and silence shall be maintained in the library.
Opening Hours
The library is open every school day from 7.30 am to 1:40 summer & 08:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m.  WINTERS
Library Periods
Every class from VI-XII is allotted  ONE  library periods per week. The students can

  • use the library, 
  • read newspapers and magazines,
  • consult reference books and
  • issue the books during their library periods.

The books can be returned to the library at any time. Besides the students may utilize the library during their free time provided 

  • no other class is having a library period at that time.
  • and  WITH APPROVAL OF SUBJECT TEACHER CONCERNED FOR THEIR PERIOD.
Issue of Books
Normally two books will be issued to a student for a period of 14 days. An overdue charge of Rs. 1/- per day will be charged in case of willful delay. Staff members can have a maximum of 5 books for a period of 14 days.
Reference Books
Reference books like encyclopedias and dictionaries will not be issued. These can be consulted in the library during the library periods. However, for the purpose project work and special assignments the students may get these books issued on request from the teacher concerned.
Magazines/Periodicals
Latest issues of the magazines will not be issued. The old issued of magazines and periodicals can be issued for two days only.
Class Libraries
The primary section from Class 1-5 is having class libraries. The class teachers are provided with enough number books as per the level which may be utilized during the library periods. Magazines/ cds for the primary section are separately provided.

Library Committee
The Library Committee is formed in the Vidyalaya with following members for the current session.
The committee meets regularly to discuss and decide the matters pertaining to providing better and effective library services to the staff and students of the vidyalaya.

Role of Library Committee
  • Selection of books  and other resources for the school library.
  •  Recommend suitable budgetary provision for the library.
  • Develop a general programme of library service to suit the interest and requirement of different sections of users.
  •   Review library rules and formulate new rules for the library.
  •  Recommend / guide for proper functioning of the library.
  • Library evaluation and monitoring. 

The objectives of the School Library


  • Be the knowledge hub of the school and disseminate 
  • knowledge as widely as possible.  
  • Facilitate creation of new knowledge. 
  • Facilitate optimal use of knowledge by all staff and students.
  • Ensure easy access to the facilities available to all staff and students.              Encourage and foster reading habit among staff and students.
  • Effectively participate in the teaching-learning programmes of the school.

Library Automation
  • The library is a fully automated Kendriya Vidyalaya Library in GURGAON Region.
  • E -GRANTH software is used for automating the library housekeeping operations.
  • Bar coding process is going on .

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)


HOW CAN I SEARCH FOR A BOOK?

In search text box, type the title of the book, subject, author or any keyword or word in the title and click Search button. The books will be displayed with details like status of availability, to whom issued and number of reservations. If book is issued, you can reserve the book by clicking Reserve Icon.

HOW TO RESERVE A BOOK?

A book can be reserved only if it is under circulation or under reservation. Search for the book in the catalog as above. When results are displayed, click the Reserve Icon and provide your Library Card Number.HOW TO CHECK RESERVATION STATUS OF A BOOK/MEMBER?
To know your status for a reserved book type you Library Card Number and select the option Card No and click Get Status button.
To get the reservation status for a particular book types the Accession Number of the book and click Get Status button.

HOW TO SUBMIT A BOOK REVIEW?

Type your reviews in Microsoft Word and sent it to your library blog. You can also write it neatly on a sheet of paper and submit to the Librarian.or best way is to write in your note book get it checked n use it as your anecdotal record in academic session.

CAN I SUGGEST A BOOK?

If you find any useful book which is not available in your library, feel free to suggest the book either in the suggestion register or e-mail to the Librarian or by using the Suggest a Book link at the library website.

CAN I DONATE A BOOK?

Why not? Your donations will help us to strengthen our library collection. Donate only original editions of books which are in good physical condition.

WHAT DOES ‘G’ STAND FOR IN THE ACCESSION NUMBER OF A BOOK?

‘G’ stand for ‘Gratis’ which means free and all the books received free of cost to the library will be entered in a separate register and will have the prefix ‘G’ with the Accession Number.

CAN I ISSUE A BOOK OTHER THAN OUR LIBRARY PERIODS?
