It is celebrated annually to raise awareness about rabies prevention and to highlight progress in defeating this horrifying disease.

28 September also marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur's death, the French chemist and microbiologist, who developed the first rabies vaccine. World Rabies Day

Today, safe and efficacious animal and human vaccines are among the important tools that exist to eliminate human deaths from rabies while awareness is the key driver for success of communities to engage in effective rabies prevention. World Rabies Day

Participation in Workshop regarding “Rabies Prevention” on 28th September, 2026.

This is to inform you that the Chandigarh NSS Cell, Education Department, Chandigarh

Administration in collaboration with Karuna Eco Companions Foundation (NGO) is going to organize Workshop under the theme of “Rabies Prevention” on the occasion of Celebration of “World Rabies Day” on 28th September, 2026 at PG Government College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh.

 The aim of the  workshop to enhance knowledge regarding Rabies, its prevention, early response safety measures and the  importance of creating awareness among NSS Programme Officers, NSS Volunteers, Students and communities.

In this regard, you are requested to depute 4 Best NSS Volunteers alongwith NSS Programme

Officer to attend the perform management duties state level Anti-Drug Awareness Programme from 2nd  March, 2026 to Workshop under the theme of “Rabies Prevention” on 28th September, 2026 at PG  Government College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh. The reporting time 09:15 AM Sharp.
