·         A POCSO committee is a committee constituted for ensuring a safe, secure and supportive environment for students who are the prime responsibility of every school

·         The committee takes immediate action on reported cases of misbehavior in the school premises on account of sexual offences

·         According to the POCSO Act, every school should have a School Complaints Committee (SCC)

·         The SCC works towards safeguarding the learners from the challenges they face in their formative years at school

·         The committee takes up age-appropriate initiatives to create awareness about sexual exploitation and to ensure that all learners are aware of their rights and responsibilities towards themselves

·          The POCSO committee at school provides protection to all children (including male and female) from the offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography

·         To ensure compliance with the POCSO Act and safety of school children in general, it is proposed to constitute a committee under the guidance of the Management & Principal to look after the safety of the students and women staff against any sexual offence within the school premises.

·         In order to ensure strict compliance of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Committee (POCSO) Act 2012, CBSE has taken several initiatives and actions for creating awareness about sexual exploitation among school children.

·         The committee will take appropriate and necessary action on reported cases of misbehaviors of sexual offences in the school premises.

·         A child and women abuse monitoring committee, consisting of the following members are hereby constituted under the POCSO Act. This committee was formed on …………….. in our school according to CBSE circular……………………

The prime responsibilities of the committee would be to ensure:
1. Conduct of in-house induction sessions on gender sensitization.
2. Appropriate training for staff to address their responsibilities to protect children from abuse
3. Monitoring the School and Bus CCTV Cameras
4. Interaction with Parents to address safety needs of students
5. Control access to school building by outsiders and monitor visitors

New Text books for grades1, 6 and 9 will be released by middle or end of march.

Schools will receive a copy of the Text book in PDF format in March if text books are

not published then No new text books for other classes.


For Classes 5 and 8 “No Detention Policy” will not be applicable from 2024. The

student has to score 25% marks in Theory and should have 75% Attendance.

Language Policy- based on NEP 2020 Multilingualism is the main focus. Lot of

emphasis is laid on the the native language.


Grade 9 will study 3 languages (R1, R2, R3) . One foreign language (English) and another language

language can be the native lang. Hindi/ Sanskrit etc. and 3rd language will be a regional

lang /native lang. Two languages should be native to India

Students of grade 9 will have to study 10 subjects. 3 languages, 3 core subjects

science, math and social science and 4 skill sub- IT/ AI, Phy.Edn, Art Edn, Env. Edn

If a child wants to learn French / German, it can be taken as additional sub. Which

will be 11th sub. A student has to pass in all 10 subjects (3 lang +3 core +4 skill sub ) to be declared

as pass.


For Class 11

2 languages and 4 Core subjects

2 languages include 1 foreign language (Eng) and 1 native language.

Four Core subjects include Phy, chem, bio, /maths, accountancy, etc.

French can be taken as 7th sub.


Board Exam- There will be 2 board exams for 10 and 12. One in Nov/Dec and the

other in Feb/ March. It is not semester-wise exam. The syllabus to be covered by

end of Oct if children would like to take exams in Nov. The child has the option of

writing the exam either in Nov/Dec or Feb /March.

A child can appear for the board exam either in Nov or in March or if the child wants

to take few exams in Nov and the rest in March can do so. The child has the option

of improving his performance if he wants in March. A child appearing for Nov Exam,

the results Mark sheets will be available after March. Practicals to be conducted in

Jan.


SAFAL: CBSE has introduced SAFAL exam for grade 5 and 8 to test the competency level

of the students. All Schools affiliated to CBSE should register the school for SAFAL before 20th Feb.

Children who will be stepping into 9th this year will be undergoing these changes.


National Credit Frame work—Students are to be credited for their study hours spent

per year. All these credits are deposited in student’s Digi locker.

Each year will have 800 hours of study and 30 hrs is one credit point

All CBSE Schools should strictly adhere to start new session from 1st April and not

earlier than April.


FLN- introduction of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Curriculum

Curriculum- Reduction in curriculum since the pandemic. 30% syllabus is reduced to

focus on critical thinking, Interactive classes, and Experiential learning.

52 short textbooks in Indian non-scheduled languages

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently introduced 52 short textbooks in Indian non-scheduled languages, encompassing tribal languages. These materials are tailored for early childhood care and education, aiming to grant young learners the opportunity to access education in their native tongue.

"The 52 primers in Indian non-scheduled languages is going to be a transformational step for young learners, especially for early childhood care and education, providing them with access to education in their mother tongue/local language. It will initiate an inspirational journey for young minds, paving the way for deeper understanding, lifelong learning, more familiarity and rooted beds in indigenous culture, and greater success in academics and beyond," says Dharmendra Pradhan.

The primers, which are short introductory books designed to acquaint students with various subjects, were developed through a partnership between the NCERT and the Central Institute of Indian Languages, located in Mysuru.

Non-scheduled languages encompass all languages spoken in India that have not been officially recognized.

 "The 52 primers in Indian languages have paved the way for the beginning of a new civilizational renaissance. These initiatives will create a seamless and futuristic learning landscape, promote learning in Indian languages, realize the vision of NEP - 2020, and holistically transform school education," the minister adds.

The initiative aligns with the government's endeavors to advance Indian languages in education across all levels, consistent with the NEP (National Education Policy) - 2020.

"The primers will initiate an inspirational journey for young minds, paving the way for deeper understanding, lifelong learning, more familiarity and rooted beds in indigenous culture and greater success in academics and beyond," Pradhan elaborates.

INITIATIVES FOR EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT AND INNOVATION

Moreover, the minister unveiled plans for the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) of Excellence, the establishment of a National Professional Standard for Teachers, the launch of the National Mission for Mentoring, and the integration of National Vidya Samiksha Kendra with state counterparts. Additionally, there are plans to introduce 200 TV DTH channels.

These initiatives aim to empower both teachers and learners, fostering inclusive, innovative, and equitable access to quality education.

Sanjay Kumar, the School Education Secretary, emphasized the recommendation of NEP - 2020 to achieve a 100 percent gross enrolment ratio in secondary-level education by 2030. "The department is committed to fulfilling that. The new textbooks for classes 3-12, some of which have already been developed, and the remaining ones will also be brought out soon," he adds.  (With inputs from PTI)
