General Instructions:

i)       All questions are compulsory.

ii)     Read the questions carefully

Q1. Read the following paragraph and provide answers to the questions given below.   (2*5= 10 Marks)

Skill subjects at the school level are specialized courses designed to equip students with practical skills and hands-on experience, preparing them for the workforce or further studies in a specific field. These subjects offer students the opportunity to move beyond traditional academic learning, focusing instead on the development of real-world skills that can be applied in a wide range of careers. Skill-based subjects typically include areas like computer science, Library & Information Science , Banking , graphic design, culinary arts, automotive studies, home economics, woodworking, and even communication or entrepreneurship. By studying these subjects, students gain not only theoretical knowledge but also valuable practical abilities that make them more competitive in the job market or provide a solid foundation for specialized education in fields such as technology, business, or creative arts.

One of the main benefits of skill subjects is their focus on hands-on learning. For instance, students in a computer science class may learn to write computer programs, while those in graphic design may use software to create logos and websites. In automotive studies, students get practical experience working with vehicles, learning how to diagnose and fix common problems. These subjects not only foster creativity and critical thinking but also teach problem-solving, collaboration, and time management. Furthermore, many skill subjects offer certifications or qualifications that are highly regarded in specific industries, providing students with a head start in their future careers.

Another key aspect of skill subjects is their ability to cater to a wide variety of interests. Students who have a passion for technology can dive into subjects like computer programming or robotics, while those with an interest in art and design may choose graphic design or photography. Students who prefer hands-on work might enjoy subjects like carpentry, automotive repair, or home economics. In this way, skill subjects provide students with the chance to explore different career paths and interests, helping them discover what they are truly passionate about. Moreover, skill subjects foster an entrepreneurial mindset by encouraging students to think creatively and solve real-world problems, which is beneficial for starting their own businesses or pursuing freelance work.

In today’s rapidly changing world, the value of skill-based learning has grown significantly. With advancements in technology and an increasing demand for specialized workers, many industries rely on individuals with technical expertise and practical experience. By offering skill subjects at the school level, students are better equipped to meet the demands of these industries, whether they pursue further education in a specialized field or jump straight into a career. These subjects also help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, ensuring that students are not only well-prepared for their future careers but also ready to face the challenges of a constantly evolving workforce.

1 : What are skill subjects in school?

2 : How do skill subjects benefit students?

3 : Can I get a job after studying a skill subject?

4 : Are skill subjects only for certain types of students?

5 : How do skill subjects help with my future career?
