The Power Of Youth And Vivekananda

The youth of India have great creative energy with the positive potential to take them to spiritual heights. If human creativity is a special quality, then the “Never say die!” spirit is its apex. Demographically, today’s India is at its youngest best and has the power to meet any challenge with the collective consciousness and effort of all people, especially young people.

This is the perfect time when youth is alert and aware and provoked by the environment and lack of values. India is a nation facing incredible challenges. This is evident from the utter lack of safety and security for the girl child and women anywhere in the country and the impunity with which monstrous elements like rapists heap violence on girl children and women.

On the one hand, people can see such huge wealth and on the other, more than one-third of the people go without a second meal every day. We have examples of the very affluent as well as the extremely poor. And millions of our children have no access to education, even at the primary level. And we are still grappling with the issue of child labour.

“Knowledge and are not restricted to books. The purpose of education is to enable balanced growth of every dimension of a human being, which is not possible without innovation,” Modi said. “Ambedkar, Deen Dayal Upadhya and Ram Manohar Lohiya always emphasised on character-building over  Swami Vivekananda stressed on wholesome education that makes us a human,” he added.
The prime minister asserted that without innovation life would become a burden.
“Innovation is very important because, without it, life seems like a burden. In our ancient universities like Takshshila, Nalanda and Vikramashila, innovation was given emphasis along with knowledge.
“I insist that students should give knowledge in classrooms of college, university but they also add them to the aspirations of the country,” he said. Stressing upon the need for “interlinking” the institutions, Modi said no country or person can live in isolation.
“Our universities and colleges should be leveraged to find solutions to the challenges facing us. We should interlink institutions to innovate and incubate. The students should link their classroom learnings to the aspirations of the country,” he said. The prime minister emphasised the importance of preparing good teachers for society.
“Scholars and students can take responsibility for spreading digital and generating greater awareness of government programmes that can improve ease of living. Youth has given ‘Brand India’ a global identity,” he said.
The conference is being attended by vice-chancellors and directors of over 350 higher education institutions.
It is being organised jointly by University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education, Indian Council of Social Science Research, Indira Gandhi Centre for the Arts, Indira Gandhi Open University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University.
The theme of the conference is to deliberate on the challenges facing the Indian education system and to work out a plan for a paradigm shift both in terms of achieving academic outcomes and also in the regulation of education.
Some of the topics that will be covered during the conference include improving pedagogy for learner-centric education, use of artificial intelligence for customised learning, improving quality of research, bringing synergy among educational institutions, participatory governance models and promoting value education by building in universal values and life skills into education.

BOOK REVIEW

Name of the book: - Ignited Minds
Author :Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam
Publisher of the book:-Penguin Books India Pvt. Ltd.Gurgaon,Haryana.

This book is written by Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and dedicated this book to a student of class 12 Master Snehal Thakur. On April 2002 when he reached Anand under curfew. While talking to the student one question came that Who is our enemy? And correct answer was our enemy is Poverty. In this book there are 9 very interesting, knowledgeable and useful lessons.

One of them is Dream and the message. In this lesson he express how he was impressed by five men Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Emperror Ashoka, Abraham Lincon and Caliph Omar. He also quotes and gives the example of works of eminent persons like Thirukkural, Rabindranath Tagore, Abraham Lincoln, J. R. D. Tata, Vikram Sarabhai, Satish Dhawan and Dr. Verghese Kurien.

'Ignited Minds - Unleashing the Power Within India' is a manifesto for the youth of a new India, an India which rises to its potential harnessing all its resources in an optimal way and becomes a world leader. And how would we do that? The answer is by using the power of young minds. Before we can do that, we have to awaken the young minds, 'ignite' them and let them set aside the inertia that has crept in. Throughout the book, Dr. Kalam talks about his vision to make India a developed nation by 2020.

He narrates the fruitful messages he got after talking to influential industrialists, political leaders, scientists, and seers . We can find the great pride that he takes in India and its rich cultural heritage and uses them to evoke national pride and to exhort the citizens of the country to work towards a common national goal. Dr. Kalam sets down the future of India on the young generation. The book is all about liberating our qualities. He explains how important it is for a child to have a role model and how they must have a dream. It is through dreams that actions happen.

The main focus of the book is his interaction with children of our nation. He states that the young children are the first scientists. Science exists from questions. Children ask inquisitive

Dr. Kalam has written this book with the solitary intention of motivating the minds of the young generation of India so that we can work together to take our country to greater and unimagined heights. At the heart of this book is the belief that the people of this nation have the power, by means of sheer hard work, to realize their dream of a truly good life. He has specifically chosen to address the youth because in his distinguished career as a space and defence scientist he relied on the power and potential of the youth.

He chose the youth and in doing so, he groomed the next generation of scientist who would take the mantle of being a space scientist from him and people of his generation. In the course of the nine chapters of this book, we can find many thought-provoking incidents and instances where Dr. Kalam was left in awe of the untapped talent and resources of the country.

He finds a unique mix of belief and knowledge that sets us apart from the other nations of the world. This book is written for the common man. It is a reminder to all of us that a simple man from Rameshwaram made it to the Rashtrapati Bhavan of New Delhi with his hard work and dedication.

YOUTH DAY- 12 JAN 2022

Swami Vivekananda (/ˈswɑːmi ˌvɪvˈkɑːnəndə/Bengali: [ʃami bibekanɔndo] (About this soundlisten); 12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902), born Narendranath Datta (Bengali: [nɔrendronatʰ dɔto]), was an Indian Hindu monk and philosopher. He was a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. Influenced by Western esotericism, he was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian darsanas (teachings, practices) of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world,[and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion during the late 19th century.

He was a major force in the contemporary Hindu reform movements in India, and contributed to the concept of nationalism in colonial India. Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission.[10] He is perhaps best known for his speech which began with the words "Sisters and brothers of America ...," in which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893.

Born into an aristocratic Bengali Kayastha family of Calcutta, Vivekananda was inclined towards spirituality. He was influenced by his guru, Ramakrishna, from whom he learnt that all living beings were an embodiment of the divine self; therefore, service to God could be rendered by service to humankind. After Ramakrishna's death, Vivekananda toured the Indian subcontinent extensively and acquired first-hand knowledge of the conditions prevailing in British India

He later travelled to the United States, representing India at the 1893 Parliament of the World's Religions. Vivekananda conducted hundreds of public and private lectures and classes, disseminating tenets of Hindu philosophy in the United States, England and Europe. In India, Vivekananda is regarded as a patriotic saint, and his birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day.

......SOURCE
